Guidelines and Etiquette
Here are some helpful guidelines to make your next
visit to a class or individual session with Kristin a positive and enriching
one:
Pilates Mat and Yoga Classes
- All mat classes are open to the public on a drop-in
basis. All levels classes do not require prior experience— beginners
through advanced are always welcome! You'll be given modifications of
exercises if needed so you can progress at your own pace.
- For beginners with little movement experience,
we recommend taking a private session for assessment, guidance and learning.
- For people with injuries, private sessions are
strongly recommended.
- For Level 2-3 classes, we recommend that you have
taken at least ten Level 1-2 or All Levels classes before coming to
this class.
Regularity of Practice
To experience the optimal benefits of Yoga and Pilates, it's important
to practice regularly. We recommend a minimum of 3 times per week, more
if you can make the time. Whether in class or at home, practicing Yoga
and/or Pilates on a consistent basis will accelerate your learning and
greatly enhance your overall health.
Age Requirement
Students under the age of 16 may not attend class, unless with prior instructor
approval. For optimum learning, we recommend younger students schedule
one-on-one sessions.
Attire
Wear athletic clothing that you can move in that is flexible and non-binding,
such as shorts, T-shirts, tights and leotards. We practice on bare feet.
Mats and Props
We have public mats and props available for your use during your private
and small group sessions. You may want to purchase your own mat for reasons
of personal hygiene and regularity of practice.
Arrival & Registration
Please arrive to the studio 10-15 minutes early to register, pay and get
ready for class. Your practice begins when you arrive at the studio, so
please remove your shoes & turn off your cell phone.
Payment
Payment is due on the same day of a session or class. For private and
small group sessions, we accept cash and checks.
Cancellation Policy
Please understand that for all scheduled appointments, we require a minimum
of 24 hours notice to cancel or there will be a full service charge.
Perfumes and Colognes
Please refrain from wearing perfumes and colognes during class.
Food
Yoga postures and Pilates exercises should be performed on an empty stomach.
Ideally, wait three to four hours after a large meal, one to two hours
after a light snack.
Health Conditions
Please consult your physician before starting any new exercise regime,
especially if you have health issues. Inform the instructor of any serious
health conditions such as neck, back or joint injuries, glaucoma, heart
disease, high blood pressure, recent surgery, and pregnancy.
Medications
Do not practice yoga or Pilates while under the influence of alcohol or
drugs (including prescribed drugs) which may alter your ability to judge
your physical capabilities.
